Help desk suite

SuperBot vs Intercom

The legacy help-desk-plus-AI product suite. Powerful, but priced per seat plus a fee per Fin outcome.

Intercom is a full support suite β€” help desk, ticketing, help center, outbound messaging and the Fin AI Agent β€” billed per seat with a $0.99 charge for every Fin outcome. SuperBot is narrower: an AI agent for your website with a shared inbox, priced per workspace from $0 with unlimited teammates. If your operation lives in Intercom workflows, stay; if you bought Intercom mainly for the chat bubble, the maths usually favours SuperBot.

Pricing model

How Intercom charges.

The Intercom model

Intercom has two meters. Seats are priced by plan β€” Essential $29, Advanced $85 and Expert $132 per seat a month on annual billing β€” and Fin AI Agent adds $0.99 per outcome. Intercom's outcome definition covers some completed procedures and handoffs, not only questions Fin answered end to end, so the AI line moves with volume even when headcount does not.

Worked example

Five people on Essential with annual billing come to 5 Γ— $29 = $145 a month. If Fin records 300 outcomes, that adds 300 Γ— $0.99 = $297, for roughly $442 before any add-ons.

The same team on SuperBot

The same five people plus anyone else who helps occasionally pay $25 a month on Starter, which covers 2,000 conversations. Note the units differ: SuperBot counts conversations, Intercom counts outcomes.

Research notes

What is different about Intercom?

Vendor sources reviewed
Intercom combines a help desk, shared inbox, ticketing, help center, and Fin AI Agent. Fin can also run with an existing help desk, so adopting Fin does not always require replacing your support system.

Fit guidance is our assessment; these are not measured performance results.

Which workflow fits your team?

Keep Intercom on your shortlist when its existing ticketing, workflows, outbound tools, or enterprise controls are central to your operation. Evaluate SuperBot when your main requirement is a website agent and shared inbox with a workspace subscription.

The test worth running

Run one answered question, one unresolved question, and one procedure that hands off. Compare which events count toward the bill and what the receiving teammate sees. Do not model every Fin outcome as a no-human resolution.

Credit where due

Where Intercom is stronger.

Breadth of the suite

Ticketing, routing, a help center, outbound and in-product messaging sit in one product. SuperBot does not attempt outbound campaigns or in-app product tours.

Fin on another help desk

Intercom says Fin works with your current helpdesk, including Salesforce. That suits teams who want an AI layer without leaving their ticketing system.

Configurable workflows

Teams with a dedicated operations owner can build multi-step workflows and routing rules that go well beyond a website agent's escalation settings.

Why evaluate SuperBot

Where SuperBot differs from Intercom.

No second meter

SuperBot has no per-outcome or per-seat fee. The plan sets a monthly conversation limit β€” 200, 2,000 or unlimited β€” and that is the whole bill.

Nothing locked to a higher tier

Every SuperBot feature is on the free plan. Paying more raises the conversation limit.

Replies draw on URLs, pasted text, help articles and Training Q&A you approve, and show a source label when matched knowledge backs the answer.

Fit

Who should choose which.

Choose Intercom if

  • Your support runs on Intercom tickets, workflows and SLAs that someone has spent months tuning.
  • Outbound and in-product messaging are part of the same team's job.
  • You want Fin as an AI layer over a help desk you already own.

Choose SuperBot if

  • Most of your volume is visitors asking questions on the website.
  • Founders, sales and ops staff drop into the inbox now and then and you do not want to pay a seat for each.
  • You would rather forecast one flat plan than seats plus outcomes.

Migration

Moving from Intercom.

Nobody has to switch off Intercom on day one. Put SuperBot on a few pages, compare the answers, then decide how much of Intercom you still need.

What you can bring

  • Public Intercom help center articles β€” add their URLs as knowledge sources.
  • The replies your team sends most often β€” rewrite them as Training Q&A, which SuperBot checks first.
  • Product, pricing and policy pages β€” add them by URL so the agent answers beyond the help center.

What stays behind

  • Conversation history and tickets: SuperBot does not import them. Export what you need from Intercom first.
  • Workflows, outbound series and in-app messages have no SuperBot equivalent.

Questions

SuperBot vs Intercom, answered.

Want a straight answer about your setup? Talk to a human β€” a real person reads every message.

Is SuperBot cheaper than Intercom?

For a website agent, usually. SuperBot is $0, $25 or $60 a month for the whole workspace. Intercom starts at $29 per seat on annual billing and adds $0.99 per Fin outcome, so its bill grows with both team size and AI volume.

Does SuperBot count outcomes like Fin?

No. SuperBot plans are measured in conversations per month β€” 200 on Free, 2,000 on Starter, unlimited on Pro β€” with no separate charge for an AI-resolved chat.

Can SuperBot replace Intercom's ticketing?

No. SuperBot's shared inbox handles website conversations and human handoff with the transcript attached. If you depend on tickets, SLAs and multi-step workflows, keep a help desk for those.

Can I keep Intercom and add SuperBot?

Yes. SuperBot installs with one script tag or a native platform app, so it can answer on part of your site while Intercom keeps running.

Will my Intercom conversations move over?

No. SuperBot only stores conversations that start in SuperBot. Export your Intercom history before cancelling.
