What SuperBot does on Shopify

SuperBot adds a customer-support AI agent to your storefront. It uses the product catalog, policy pages, and help content you connect to answer product, sizing, shipping, returns, and order-status questions. When a question needs a person, the conversation can be handed to your team with its context intact.

  • Product answers are grounded in the store content SuperBot has indexed, including titles, descriptions, options, variants, and availability where those fields are available.
  • Policy answers can point shoppers to the live shipping, returns, or help page that supports the reply.
  • The widget can capture contact details for wholesale, bulk, or other sales conversations instead of losing the lead in a generic contact form.
§ 02

Before you install

Have your storefront URL, current policy pages, and a test product ready. The quality of the first answers depends on the content a shopper can actually read, so publish the latest shipping, returns, sizing, and contact information before training the agent.

  • Use the Shopify store that should be connected to this SuperBot workspace.
  • Check that product descriptions, variants, and policy pages are written for customers rather than only internal staff.
  • Decide where a human should receive escalations: the SuperBot inbox, a connected team workflow, or your existing support process.
  • If your store has more than one theme, identify the theme that is currently published before checking the widget.
§ 03

Install from the Shopify App Store

Open the SuperBot Shopify App listing, choose Add app, and approve the requested Shopify access. Complete the connection flow and return to the SuperBot dashboard. The app is the preferred path when it is available for your store; it keeps the connection and storefront setup in one guided flow.

  • Confirm that the Shopify store shown during authorization is the one you intend to launch.
  • After the connection succeeds, open the SuperBot dashboard and check that the store URL and workspace are the expected ones.
  • If Shopify asks you to add the app to a theme, choose the published theme or the theme you are about to publish, then save and publish the theme change.
§ 04

Use the one-snippet fallback

If the app flow is not available for your store, SuperBot can also be installed with one script in the published theme. In Shopify admin, open Online Store → Themes, choose the active theme, open Edit code, and add the SuperBot snippet near the end of layout/theme.liquid before the closing body tag. Save, publish, and then load a storefront page in a private window.

  • Copy the exact snippet shown in your SuperBot dashboard so the site ID routes conversations to the correct workspace.
  • Do not paste a development site ID into a production theme; staging and production should be intentionally connected.
  • If your theme uses an app embed or theme extension, use that supported placement instead of adding duplicate scripts.
§ 05

Train, test, and publish with confidence

Before sending traffic to the widget, approve a small representative set of answers. Test the questions that normally create tickets or abandon checkout, then publish only after the replies use the correct product and policy language.

  • Ask a product question about a real variant, size, material, or compatibility constraint.
  • Ask about delivery times, returns, exchanges, and an edge case such as an international order.
  • Test a lead or wholesale request and verify that the handoff includes the conversation context.
  • Ask the agent to say it does not know when the source content is missing; a safe escalation is better than an invented promise.
§ 06

Verify the live storefront

Use a private or logged-out browser window so cached theme assets do not hide a change. Open a product page and a policy page, start the widget, and check both the answer and the source it used. Then open Chats in the SuperBot dashboard and confirm that the test conversation arrived in the right workspace.

  • The launcher should appear on the published storefront, not only inside the Shopify theme editor.
  • A product answer should match the current title, variant, and policy language on the store.
  • A handoff test should create a visible conversation for the team to pick up.
  • Test mobile width as well as desktop; the launcher and composer should remain usable above Shopify's sticky purchase controls.
§ 07

Troubleshooting

Work through these checks in order; most launch issues are publishing or connection issues rather than model issues.

  • Widget missing: confirm the correct theme is published, the app embed/snippet is enabled, and the page is not an editor preview or cached copy.
  • Wrong store or empty answers: open the SuperBot dashboard, confirm the store URL and site ID, then re-run the content sync after product or policy changes.
  • Order question cannot be answered: verify that the store connection and the customer-facing order workflow are enabled, then offer a human handoff for protected order details.
  • Duplicate launcher: remove the old snippet before enabling an app embed or theme extension; only one SuperBot widget should load per page.
  • Theme conflict: test the default published theme or temporarily disable another chat/marketing widget to identify a script collision.

Billing, privacy, and support

SuperBot pricing is shown on the pricing page. The Shopify installation connects a store to a SuperBot workspace; conversations and widget settings remain managed in SuperBot. Review the privacy policy for retention and deletion details. If you need help, email [email protected] with the store domain, workspace email, and the exact status or error shown in the dashboard.
