How Smart Chat is paid for

Wix Smart Chat uses the AI credits included in your Wix site plan. Each AI reply draws on that balance, which Wix shares with other AI tools on your site.

The allowances work like this, according to Wix's help pages as checked in October 2026:

  • Free plan: up to 30 credits a day, with a ceiling of 120 credits a month.
  • Premium plans: credits refresh monthly and do not roll over.
  • Top-ups: Wix says it is not currently possible to buy top-up credits for Premium plans.

What Wix estimates you can do

Wix publishes estimated Smart Chat actions for each Premium plan. The estimates are up to 150 on Light, 200 on Core, 300 on Business and 1,000 on Business Elite. Wix says the exact number of actions, and how many credits each action uses, is not guaranteed.

Treat those figures as a planning guide. Your real capacity depends on how long each conversation runs, how many other AI features use the same credits, and which model handles each reply.

Other Wix AI tools use the same credits

Smart Chat is not the only tool that spends your credits. Wix's help article names the AI Custom Agent, the AI Marketing Agent, the AI Phone Agent and Wixel as tools that draw on the same balance. If one of those tools runs heavily, Smart Chat has less to spend.

That is the main planning risk. A busy marketing campaign can use credits that your chat needs during the same week.

What happens when the credits run out

Wix says Smart Chat switches to offline mode when your credits are used up. A fallback is to answer by hand, so your team can keep answering customers while it is offline.

For a shop that depends on chat, that means a plan upgrade is the only way to add capacity. Wix says top-up credits are not currently possible for Premium plans, so the route to more capacity is a higher plan with a larger allowance.

How to plan for your volume

Start with your chat count for the last 30 days, then estimate how many of those chats the AI should handle. Compare that number with the Wix estimate for your plan, and leave room for the other AI tools on your site.

Here is a simple example. A Core site that expects 400 chats a month is above Wix's estimated 200 actions for that plan, before any other AI tool uses a credit. The fix is a higher plan, because Wix says top-up credits are not currently possible for Premium plans.

A separate option to test

Some site owners want chat that is not tied to Wix credits. SuperBot's Wix app has its own conversation limit: the free plan covers 200 conversations a month, Starter covers 2,000 for $25 a month, and Pro is unlimited at $60 a month. Other Wix AI tools do not draw on that limit.

SuperBot also answers from your own pages, documents and articles, shares a team inbox with the transcript, and reads Wix store products and orders read-only. Compare it with Smart Chat on your own traffic before you switch anything off.

A fair way to test both

Run Smart Chat and a second tool side by side for one week on a copy of your site, or on a few pages. Record the number of chats, how many the AI answered, how many went offline, and how many customers asked for a person. Then compare the answers on the same 20 questions.

Keep Smart Chat on the whole time you test. Turning it off during the test hides the very problem you are trying to measure.

What to do this week

  • Check your current Wix plan and its AI credit allowance on Wix's help page.
  • Count your chats for the last 30 days, and note the share the AI should answer.
  • List the other Wix AI tools you use, since they draw on the same credits.
  • Decide what visitors should see when Smart Chat is offline, and plan to answer by hand as the fallback if it fits your team.
  • Run a one-week side-by-side test, and compare the number of chats each option could handle.
