AI chatbot for OpenCart

On OpenCart, SuperBot goes in through the built-in Theme Editor: one line in common/footer.twig, saved as an override while the original file stays untouched. The agent answers delivery, payment, and product questions overnight from the information pages you already maintain.

How to add SuperBot to OpenCart

The Theme Editor saves your edit as an override in the database: no FTP, no OCMod patch.

  1. 01

    Copy your snippet

Sign up free and copy the embed snippet from the setup page.

  2. 02

    Add your information pages

Add the URLs of your Delivery Information and Terms & Conditions pages, plus the product pages that get the most questions.

  3. 03

    Open the Theme Editor

In the OpenCart admin, open Design → Theme Editor, pick the store, and choose common/footer.twig.

  4. 04

    Paste and enable the override

Paste the snippet before </body>, set the override to Enabled on OpenCart 4, and save.

  5. 05

    Clear the template cache

Clear the template cache (System → Settings → Server on OpenCart 4, or Developer Settings on the 3.x dashboard) and hard-refresh the storefront.

Where it goes on OpenCart

  1. Design
  2. Theme Editor
  3. common/footer.twig

Design → Theme Editor → your store → common/footer.twig, just before the closing </body> tag. Clear the template cache (System → Settings → Server on OpenCart 4; Developer Settings on the 3.x dashboard), then hard-refresh.

Paste before </body>Your account fills in the site ID
<script id="superbot-web-script"
  data-site-id="YOUR_SITE_ID"
  data-api-base="https://superbotapp.ai"></script>
<script src="https://superbotapp.ai/widget/web/superbot-web.js" async></script>

This is the whole install on an OpenCart site — your account gives you the exact snippet with your site ID.

Before you launch on OpenCart

What it answers, what it hands off, what to watch.

Answers on its own

  • Delivery methods and costs from your Delivery Information page.
  • Accepted payment methods and terms, from Terms & Conditions and any page you add.
  • Stock, compatibility, and warranty questions from the product pages you add.

Goes to your team

  • Order status and return authorisations; SuperBot has no OpenCart order connection.
  • Anything outside the pages you added, with the visitor's contact details attached.

OpenCart gotchas

  • Theme Editor overrides are stored in the database, not in the .twig file, so an FTP edit to the same file and an override can disagree. Keep the snippet in one place.
  • In a multi-store setup the Theme Editor edits one store at a time; add the snippet for each store.
  • The Theme Editor only covers storefront templates, so the launcher never appears in the admin. That is expected.

Practical workflows

What the agent handles on an OpenCart site.

Overnight coverage

Payment and delivery questions

Explain accepted payment methods and delivery options straight from your information pages, with a link to the page.

Pre-purchase checks

Handle stock, compatibility, and warranty questions at the point of hesitation rather than after the visitor leaves.

Why it works on OpenCart

Why the Theme Editor route works on OpenCart.

  • No extension to install, so nothing competes with the OCMod or vQmod modifications you already run.
  • The same footer edit works on OpenCart 3.x and 4.x, because the widget is a browser script.
  • The widget runs in the visitor's browser, so a shared-hosting OpenCart install carries no extra server load.
  • Out-of-hours questions become leads with contact details instead of contact-form emails nobody reads until morning.

FAQ

Questions OpenCart site owners ask.

Something else about your setup? Talk to a human — a real person reads every message.

Where does the chatbot code go in OpenCart?

Design → Theme Editor, choose your store and common/footer.twig, and paste the SuperBot snippet before the closing body tag. No extension install required.

I saved the footer but the storefront hasn't changed. Why?

OpenCart caches compiled templates. Clear the template cache (System → Settings → Server on 4.x, Developer Settings on 3.x), make sure the override is enabled, and hard-refresh.

Will it conflict with OCMod or vQmod?

No. SuperBot is not an OpenCart extension and does not modify core files; the Theme Editor keeps its change as a separate override.

Does it work on OpenCart 3 and 4?

Yes. Both have the Theme Editor, and the widget is a client-side script, so the version does not affect it.
