Your return policy
Not legal advice. Consumer law differs by country and state, so check this policy against the rules that apply to your business before you publish it.
How it works
Three steps, about two minutes.
- 01Set your rules
Return window, item condition, who pays return shipping, exchanges, final-sale items and refund method.
- 02Read the draft
The policy on the right rewrites itself as you change an answer. Nothing is sent anywhere.
- 03Check and publish
Check it against your local consumer law, then copy it to your store's policy page.
Guide
What a good return policy covers.
A return policy has one job: answer “can I send this back?” before a shopper has to ask. The clearest ones state the window in days from delivery, the condition items must be in, what can't be returned, who pays for shipping, and how and when the refund arrives.
Make it easy to find
- Link it in your footer, on product pages and in order emails.
- Repeat the key numbers (window, cost) in your FAQ.
- Keep final-sale items listed in one place and mark them on the product page too.
Then let shoppers ask about it
Most return questions are about one order: “is this still returnable?”, “how do I start a return?”. Pair the policy with the shipping policy generator and the FAQ generator, then let an AI chatbot answer from all three. See SuperBot answer from your own store.

Is this return policy legally binding?
The generator writes a policy from your answers; it is not legal advice. Consumer law differs by country and state. For example, some places give online shoppers a statutory right to cancel within a set number of days. Check your policy against the rules that apply to your business before you publish it.
How long should my return window be?
Pick a window you can honour on every order. 30 days is common for online stores; some stores offer longer windows around the holidays. Whatever you choose, state it as days from delivery so there is no doubt when it starts.
Should I charge for return shipping?
It's your call. Free returns remove a reason not to buy but cost you on every return. A common middle ground, which this generator offers, is to pay for returns only when an item arrived damaged, defective or wrong.
Where should I put my return policy?
Link it in your store footer, on product pages near the add-to-cart button, in order confirmation emails, and in your FAQ. Shopify, Wix and most platforms also have a dedicated policy page setting.
Is my information saved?
No. The policy is built in your browser from the answers on this page. We only record that the tool was used when you copy or download a policy.
