What Chatbase charges
Chatbase's pricing page sets a monthly pool of message credits for each plan. The free plan has 50 credits, Hobby is $40 a month for 700 credits, Standard is $150 a month for 4,000 and Pro is $500 a month for 15,000. Yearly billing gives 20% off.
Three rules matter more than the headline price:
- Branding removal is a $99-a-month add-on, and it is not included on Hobby, Standard or Pro.
- Free agents are deleted after 14 days of inactivity on the free plan. A test bot that sits idle for two weeks is gone.
- Team size depends on the plan: 2 members on Hobby, 3 on Standard and 5 on Pro.
Chatbase is built for teams that want to create and tune several AI agents. If that is your job, its credit model makes sense. If you need one support agent for your site and inbox, the credit pool is harder to forecast.
How the alternatives price
- Chatbase. Free plan: 50 message credits, 1 agent. Entry paid plan: Hobby $40 a month for 700 credits. What is metered: Message credits.
- Chatling. Free plan: 200 AI credits, 1 agent, 1 seat. Entry paid plan: Starter $25 a month ($21 a month billed yearly) for 1,750 credits. What is metered: AI credits, 0.5 to 25 per message by model.
- SiteGPT. Free plan: No free plan, 7-day trial with a card. Entry paid plan: Starter $59 a month, or $39 a month billed yearly. What is metered: Messages, 4,000 a month on GPT-4.1-mini.
- SuperBot. Free plan: 200 conversations a month, no card. Entry paid plan: Starter $25 a month for 2,000 conversations. What is metered: Conversations.
Chatling's credit cost changes with the AI model, so the same question can cost different amounts. Chatling's branding removal is a $35-a-month add-on, and it is included on Scale. SiteGPT's branding removal is $39 a month, billed yearly at $468 a year, and SiteGPT has no free plan.
How to compare fairly
Credits, messages and conversations measure different things. A long chat uses more credits than a short one, so a conversation-based plan can cost less for the same traffic. Before you compare, take 30 days of chats and measure the average number of messages per chat. Then work out how many credits or messages that volume needs on each plan.
Check three more things before you choose:
- Whether the free plan has an inactivity rule that could delete your bot.
- How many people can answer chats and whether you pay for each seat.
- Whether removing the vendor's branding is included or an add-on.
Where each option fits
Chatling fits teams that want a credit-based bot and a small team of seats. Its Starter plan includes two seats.
SiteGPT fits a single owner who trains one bot on website pages and does not need a free plan. Its Starter plan includes one team member, and its message caps depend on the model.
SuperBot fits teams that want one support agent for the website, a shared inbox for handoff and no credit meter. The free plan covers 200 conversations a month. Starter is $25 a month for 2,000 conversations, and Pro is $60 a month for unlimited conversations. Every plan includes unlimited teammates. Ask us about the badge on your plan.
Chatbase is the better fit when you want to build several agents and tune each one. It is a weaker fit when you want a predictable monthly bill for a single support agent.
A simple test before you switch
Pick 20 real questions from your inbox, including two or three the AI should refuse or hand over. Run them through both trials on the same pages. Score each answer yourself for accuracy, tone and whether it cites your own content. Then check which plan you would need for your real chat volume, not the plan in the headline.
What to do this week
- Export 30 days of chats and measure the average number of messages per chat.
- Write down each vendor's credit or message cost for that average, with the date you checked.
- Check whether the free plan deletes idle agents and whether branding removal is included in the plan you need.
- Run the same 20 questions through two trials and score the answers.
- Choose the plan that fits your volume, then review the bill after the first full month.
